A Look At A Warrior In World of Warcraft

The Job of the Warrior is to get relentlessly beat upon. While there are a handful of classes in World of Warcraft that have the capability to tank, the Warrior stands above them all with more talents, abilities and equipment geared for the role. In a group setting, if the warrior dies first, they died knowing they did their job to the best of their abilities. Some players are better at holding the agro from the monsters than others, but it’s a common adage that effective tanking is 10% gear, 10% talent build and 80% skill.

A large part of effective tanking is outside the hands of the warrior. One common fallacy held by the players of World of Warcraft is that if a tank loses control of a monster, he’s a bad tank. While this very well could be true, the case could actually be quite the opposite. There is a limited number of things a Warrior can do to generate threat on a creature. Assuming that the skill, talents build are in place and the gear collected, he can build a lot of threat. There is an upper limit to the threat obtainable. When a character is assigned to tank, he will not be generating the majority of his threat from dealing damage to a target. Outside of the Warrior class, dealing damage is the best way to increase threat on a monster. Over a period of time, the threat from damage caused by another character can overcome the threat generated by the tank. In such a situation, as long as the warrior was using all his abilities to their maximum effectiveness, there’s nothing else he could have done to keep the focus of the enemy. A party who knows this, and can manage their own threat makes the tanks life that much easier. At lower levels, the group tends to blame the tank if he loses control of the monster. In the end game forty man instances, the smart groups tend to blame the player who pulled the target for not managing his own threat.

I'm sure there are tons of underlying factors

I very rarely ask questions regarding endgame, since I'm under the impression of "don't ask a question until you know a little bit about it"...but my curiosity is to strong today. After reading several threads today regarding end game raids, and valuable classes, I'm left with a feeling that I've under estimated the value of class selection and corresponding spec selection. For those that raid frequently, what is the most valuable class to have in your group (including their spec)? Is it fair to say that once you reach 70, and are fairly geared up, some classes are almost always going to be favoured to have in a raid than others? Or in the end, are all classes and speccs needed equally? I'm hesitant to ask this question because I know so little about end game content, and I'm sure there are tons of underlying factors...perhaps not!

What do you think

Wrath of the Lich King Release Date When do you think we'll see WotLK in the stores? First guesses put the date around Summer time, but lately it's shifted more towards the end of the year. Would Blizzard let the release of Warhammer go completely unchallenged by delaying Wrath for months? Surely that would be asking for trouble... What do you think?

i think alot has changed

Basicly i think alot has changed since then, such as the expansion and various changes to each class, but my memories of the game seem a little hazey, i dont remember much really, i did alot of quests and grinding, but i dont seem to be very far in the game, plus my gear and skills/attacks etc seem a bit crap for a level 50, so i have some questions: 1: Has alot changed? I mainly did Questing and lots of grinding (lots, i dont seem that far in the game and the map isnt as explored as i thought it would be, which is confusing me since a lvl 50 should be quite far into it.) 2: I dont have too much gold, about 100-150 i think, where should i go to get te best rogue armor, daggers etc? 3: Where should i go to get the best skills/attacks/spells etc that i will be able to afford? I would like a build mainly for World PvP (also known as ganking ), since im in a PvP server but also for quests and soon raids. Also what about talent points? 4: Where should i go to be able to get me to lvl 60? edit: 5: I dont think i ever really did much with proffessions (mining etc), also what about first aid do i need that? Thanks, i really want to stick with my Rogue, and try and get it to 60, as i remmber trying other classes and not liking them much. Are Rogues good PvP classes?

the player making the video

Funny parody on the song - though I dislike these druid videos that are purely spamming moonfire . . . can you say ZERO skill . . .druids have sooo many useful abilities that IMO it's a shame and a waste to not use them and just run around in the background hitting your moonfire keys plus it's extremely boring to watch. I guess that says something about the player making the video. Reply With Quote
